When Iesous worked in and around Judea, he realized that his ministry as an incarnated being was coming to an end. After the crucifixion Iesous again manifested a human body and appeared to Wayists in many different places. He told them that he was on his way to Sukhavati, but he will return as a glorified being within a generation (a generation is about 40 years). The Wayists asked for signs of when his return will be so that they could prepare. Iesous gave them some signs to look for. One was the destruction of the Jewish people by the Roman authorities, another was the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem. Iesous told them that the war would be especially bloody and that they should head to the mountains of Kashmir for safety to wait for his return. To prepare for the arrival of thousands of Judean Wayists, Iesous dispatched a disciple named Thomas to Kashmir in India.
Thomas founded many Wayist communities in the Kashmir Valley and surrounding mountains. He started community welfare movements and even inspired a king or two to fund the community assistance programs. By the time of Iesous return to earth as the glorified Saviour of All Beings, the Universal Gateway to Heaven, Avalokiteshvara it was approximately the year 78AD. Mari of Magadha was in her 70s, waiting in Kashmir after many years working in Ethiopia and Aksum. Thomas was martyred by an irate king because he meddled in the king's bedroom affairs but Mari was there to take leadership in the end. The community of Wayists had collected a set of holy Scripture that was dear to them. Over time, the collection became known as the Eastern Bible.
The Eastern Bible contains books such as, The Mystical Sayings of Yesu, The Acts of Yesu, Acts of Thomas, Book of Thomas, Bhagavad Gita, Song of Songs, Book of Wisdom, and Daodejing.
Lotus Sutra and Pranja Paramita (Fulfilment of Wisdom) Sutra
At the incoming of Avalokiteshvara in 78AD a new pivotal Scripture was revealed, as if happening out of the blue. It is no doubt the most influential holy scripture in the world because it changed religions and accumulated billions of followers. Its name is The Lotus Sutra. It tells the story of what happened to Iesous in Sukhavati after he ascended there. It tells how the Lord was glorified and empowered, and sent down to earth to minister to us for as long as it takes for all sentient beings to be liberated from samsara, the cycle of reincarnation in the school of life. The Lotus Sutra was never incorporated into the Eastern Bible because it, and its message effectively put an end to the need for holy Scripture. The Lotus Sutra was also not part of the historical event of Wayists from all over coming to wait upon the Lord's return in Kashmir. Today, we study the Eastern Bible for its beauty, our interest in the tradition and its historical significance.
In the Lotus Sutra, Amitabha calls Avalokiteshvara His son. The first time ever, in any Buddhist scripture that a Buddha of Amitabha's rank refers to anyone as “son”. A new era had started. Iesous message that we are all kin, and that the ruler of Sukhavati is not only his Father but also our Father took shape and form in the Lotus Sutra in the East. Furthermore, Avalokiteshvara brings women into heaven, another first. He goes a step further, he says he will appear to us in human form, even as a woman. Iesous ministry to liberate women and poor people from the hold that Judaic, Hindu and Zoroastrian temple priests and Buddhist monks swayed over them, excluding them from salvation, had come to fruition in the sudden worldwide acceptance of the Lotus Sutra. Additionally, the Lotus Sutra says that Avalokiteshvara appears to us in the form of any of the gods of the religions—thereby all but negating the necessity for other religions. It culminated in a massive coup de etat.
All along in Iesous' incarnate ministry he believed and said that he did not come to start a new religious movement but the conduct of the people convinced the Father of heaven to change the plan. The change in plan was revealed to Iesous in the desert of Judea and he struggled to understand it. In the Garden of Gethsemane, Iesous asked for the last time, “Lord, if it is your will, remove this cup from me,” but alas he was told to continue along the Father's plan. Iesous did not share details of the plan with his most intimate and most senior disciple Mari. Even when he hung on the cross Mari would say to him, “Lord, get yourself off there” and he responded in Sanskrit saying to her beautiful things that took her mind off her nightmare. In the end, the Father's revised plan had come to fruition in Kashmir. As Iesous had explained to Wayists after the crucifixion, saying, it will happen in the East and will be seen even in the West, just as lightning strikes in the East it is seen even in the West. A new world religion was born and its time on Earth is now about to bloom.
