A serene mind is still and content.  A serene mind is the result of practising the lessons of the preceding chapters, but even the saint who is learning meditation will have to practise for some time to still the mind.  When the mind is still it can hear the voice of Wisdom.
Practising celibacy is to be free from lust.  The yogi’s mind is not controlled by desires and anger and lust, the yogi is in control.  If the yogi should have sexual intercourse s/he would indulge in as a service to God, and go about it reverently, careful, meticulous and diligently not driven by lust.
