Variants of this saying are duplicated in Book of Wisdom and in the Mystical Sayings of Yesu and in Acts of Thomas.  
It is true that if all beings are left to act out their nature, then eventually all will be perfected after many many millennia, so why then does Scripture tell us what to do and not to do?  See texts vs. 34ff
