Deva, here translated as Energies, means a deity, a demigod, a celestial person, the agent of God. This can be angels, but in a more primitive religious outlook it can also denote the aspects or energies of the One. We may understand these Energies as the Holy Trinity while others, especially from the Hindu tradition will choose to see the gods and goddesses. By Energies we understand also the spirit within. Yajna nourishes the spirit, which in its turn adds wisdom to the mind and body, and in wisdom these will take care to nourish the spirit because that is how enlightenment is reached. It is a common concept to know that whatever we give (think, act) is a contribution to the pool of Gods Energies and it will be rewarded manifold. How terrible it will be if we contribute bad things.
