To desire to posses material things is un-quenching thirst. This should
really be a self-evident truth because that which desires (the mind) is
of another nature than the objects of desire (temporal things). The desire
for material things is so often an attempt to replace God in that they
are usually attempting to pacify our neurosis which comes from not knowing
the Spirit. Without God in our minds we are deluded to think we must protect
ourselves, we must provide for any situation and catastrophe, we must define
ourselves in the community by displaying things which give us good standing,
etc. With the knowledge of God, and spiritual consciousness comes the
direct proof that we Are, that God provides, that we are eternal, that
we have good standing with God and that that exceeds the any other recognition
one may have needed.
To think that one can own something, or that someone
owes one something is the greater delusion. All things are given and taken
by the flow of the Energies of God. A business man may think himself wise
and thrifty and therefore believes himself rich, but his mind and talent
and circumstances and perseverance -- all has been given him by God, he
is merely a custodian, and all can be taken away in the blink of an eye.
Once
the Truth is realised all these false notions which bring so much hardship
simply passes away.
