Free from ‘fondness’, in the Greek would be the word ‘philia’, and happiness could be the Greek word ‘eros’ for that matter – these are the other two versions of love which delude us.  What the sage need cultivate is ‘agape’(Gr. love, which can be described as Unconditional Positive Regard.
