Ritualistic piety is as old as humankind. By this method of self-deceit humans continue to con themselves that they are working on self improvement. The basis of all ritualistic piety is the belief in a god which needs people to appease him/her with frequent visits, alms and gifts and sacrifices such as personal pleasures. Some systems teach that the repetition of the gods name, or publicly stating that the god is a great saviour and the mightiest of gods, or the frequent making of prayers to the god is enough to obtain its gifts. When sufficiently appeased this god will smile down on the devotee and grant a wish. This belief is a great fallacy. Adherents of this belief system will have to reincarnate many times over to come to learn where the Truth is. This text, along with others from the Veda and Hebrew Scriptures make some of the oldest examples of the abusive cults which preach prosperity religion.
